Xiaochihkan Outer is a key transit stop on the Xiyu outer ring road, served by three routes: the morning Magong–Wai-an Line 0758, the Magong–Tongliang Line 0762, and the evening Tongliang–Wai-an Line 0798. The stop primarily serves commuters and travelers heading to Xiyu’s traditional fishing villages and historic sites, making it an essential transfer point for exploring Penghu’s outer ring.
On-Site Location
Xiaochihkan Outer is a simple roadside bus stop on the Xiyu outer ring highway with no on-site staff. The Tongliang Ancient Banyan — a Xiyu landmark featuring a hundred-year-old tree and a traditional temple courtyard — is about a 5-minute walk away. Wai-an fishing village, where you can view coastal scenery and traditional fishing boats moored in the harbor, is roughly 10 minutes on foot. The Chidong Salt Flat ruins and surrounding hamlets are within a 5–8 minute walk. As the stop sits on the outer ring road far from Magong city center, the surrounding area consists of traditional settlements and coastal farmland with no commercial establishments nearby — avoid waiting in direct sun for extended periods.
Travel Tips
Xiaochihkan Outer is an unmanned stop with infrequent service — always check the real-time arrivals on this page or contact the Magong bus terminal in advance to confirm departure times. Wai-an Line 0758 and Tongliang Line 0762 operate primarily in the morning; service drops off significantly after noon, so if you plan a same-day return trip to Wai-an or Tongliang, aim to catch a morning bus. Evening Line 0798 runs only twice: at 20:30 and 21:50. In winter, the northeast monsoon frequently delays buses on outer ring roads by 10–15 minutes — consider taking a taxi in severe weather. Road surfaces can be slippery during the rainy season; please take care when stepping off the bus.
