Shanwei stop

Shanwei is an important transit hub on the western side of Penghu, situated between Tongliang village and Wai-an Village, where 4 bus routes stop. Travelers from Magong or the city center often transfer here to reach attractions in Xiyu Township — particularly the Tongliang Banyan, the Penghu Bay Bridge (toward Yueweng Island Lighthouse), and the traditional fishing village of Wai-an. Three daytime routes operate on fixed schedules: 0758 (Magong–Wai-an), 0762 (Magong–Tongliang Banyan), and 0766 (Magong–Shagang Circular). Night route 0798 provides the last connection between Magong, Tongliang, and Wai-an, making Shanwei a key transit point for the western Penghu area.

Location

Shanwei stop is located along the main road (island ring road) in Xiyu Township, near the center of Tongliang village. The Tongliang Banyan — planted in 1673 and now over 350 years old, the largest banyan in Penghu County — is a 5-minute walk away. The Penghu Bay Bridge viewing area is about 15 minutes on foot, offering an unobstructed view of the bridge in clear weather. The traditional fishing village scenery of Wai-an is a short distance south of the stop. From here, visitors can reach the tidal flats, Wai-an Fishing Harbor, local shops, and the coastal coral-stone (basalt) traditional architecture along Penghu’s western shore.

Travel Tips

All 4 routes stop at the same point, so confirm the route number before boarding. Daytime routes 0758, 0762, and 0766 run relatively frequently, heading toward Wai-an, Tongliang Banyan, and Shagang respectively; these are the main services for western Penghu’s key attractions. Route 0798 is a night service suited for visitors who need to leave the area later in the evening (commonly used during the May–September tourist season). The last daytime departure is typically between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, while the last return on 0798 is at 9:50 PM. During winter when the northeast monsoon is strong, minor delays are possible; checking the real-time arrival information on this page before setting out is advisable.
