Zhongtun Elementary School is an important morning transit hub in Xi’yu Township, Penghu. Three urban bus routes stop here, with particularly dense service during morning hours. Many commuters and students board here to travel to Magong. It is a key transfer point for Waian fishing village residents and Tongliang locals heading to Magong for errands, school, or work, and is also a common alighting point for afternoon visitors arriving in Xi’yu.
Location
The stop is near the main gate of Zhongtun Elementary School, along the main road toward Waian, with a basic shelter for waiting passengers. Within a 5-minute walk is the Zhongtun Community Development Association and a cluster of guesthouses. About a 15-minute walk south leads to Waian Fishing Harbor and the surrounding fishing village; roughly 20 minutes north brings you to the ancient banyan tree at Tongliang and the local countryside. The surrounding area consists mainly of residences, farmland, and small shops — a good starting point for a leisurely stroll through Xi’yu’s everyday pace of life.
Travel Tips
Three routes share the same shelter; always confirm the route number — 0758 / 0762 / 0798 — before boarding. Morning services often fill up quickly, so arriving early is recommended. First departures from Magong: Route 0762 at 06:35 and Route 0758 at 06:55 (confirmed by TDX). Daytime services are less frequent; checking the timetable a day in advance is advisable. Night Route 0798 is the main option for evening visitors and returning residents. During winter northeast monsoon season, delays of 10–20 minutes are common; on days with high winds, rough seas, or poor visibility, checking live arrivals or departing early is recommended.
