Dingwan South is a hub intermediate stop on the Penghu West Ring routes, located in Tanbian Village, Huxi Township. Four urban and outer island routes call here. Whether you are traveling from Magong to Tongliang, Waian, or on the Shagang Circular route, most services pass through Dingwan South, making it an important transfer point connecting the island’s various scenic areas. Travelers departing from Magong Port or central Magong who plan to explore the West Ring often change buses or make a brief stop here. For local residents, Dingwan South also serves as a key cross-township hub for daily commuting.
Location
The bus stop stands on the main road through Tanbian Village, with a simple shelter and a windbreak roof. Route signs clearly indicate the direction and schedule for each service. Walking west for about 15 minutes brings you to the rest area and viewpoints near the Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge; the Tongliang Banyan and the official scenic area car park are about 10 minutes away on foot, and Waian fishing village is approximately 20 minutes to the north. From Magong Port, the journey by bus takes about 20–25 minutes; the stop is roughly 8 km from central Magong. The area was historically known as “Dingwan”; the name “Dingwan South” emerged when separate northern and southern stops were established. The stop itself is compact but sees steady traffic from visitors heading to the West Ring.
Travel Tips
All four routes depart from the same shelter, so check the route number on the sign before boarding: 0758 Waian Line (Magong ↔ Waian), 0762 Tongliang Line (Magong ↔ Tongliang), 0766 Shagang Circular Line (Magong → Shagang → Magong), and 0798 Night Waian Line (Magong ↔ Tongliang ↔ Waian). Most routes begin their first service between 06:30 and 07:00, with the last daytime departure around 19:00–21:00. If you are taking the 0798 Night Line to or from Waian, the last return service departs at 21:50 — allow enough time to avoid missing it. During winter northeast monsoon season, the area around the stop can be quite windy; keep a firm grip on your belongings and maintain your footing while waiting. During public holidays or the Penghu Fireworks Festival, buses tend to be busier than usual — arriving 5–10 minutes early is advisable to secure a seat.
